{UNION} Here’s what I know now: There’s little that prepares you for marriage. It’s a jump into the deep end with both feet and one eye open kinda feeling. 8 years later, I still get that. Pour into each other. Don’t lose yourself in the other but rather give selflessly (as Christ did for the church.) When we pursue and love Christ first, that love will overflow abundantly for our spouse. • • Live with the heart and mind of a Proverbs woman. She is virtuous and capable. She is trustworthy. She is energetic and hardworking. She extends a hand to the poor and needy. She is clothed with dignity and laughs without fear of the future. She speaks with wisdom. She gives instruction with kindness. She watches over her household. For her deeds publicly declare her praise. Striving to be this woman takes *years* of growth and grace....8 years later, the will of God brought me here with this man and life only gets sweeter (like a fine wine ☺️) Friends, let Christ rule your marriage. That’s it. That’s what matters most and all else will flow from this. {SAVOR} The pastor asks the congregation, how many weeks do we have with our children? 936. 936 weeks until graduation. It seems adequate. But to some, it is exactly as scripture describes life to be - a vapor. Another question he asks is what kind of legacy will you leave? Honestly, I haven’t entertained the thought. As parents, I watch our little seedlings that grow up too quick for my heart to handle. But God. I fail way too much by my own strength. And what we’ve instilled and created for our children is sacred and will continue on for generations. What a thought. With each passing memory, I’m grateful. God gives us these tiny humans temporarily and we get to choose. To raise them in such a way that mimics the love, gentleness, kindness and mercy God has shown us. {STRETCHED} • • • “It’s ok. The Lord will give you only as much as you can handle.” I’ve been told this. I’ve shared this with peers. But is there really truth behind it? I believe the times we are called to serve others, is a time where others can not only see us but Christ through us. So yes, I do believe that we are given more than we can bear... The year I became a wife and the other a mother were years that expanded and elevated my heart. But 2019 was different. In one word stretched. God will prepare your heart for seasons that seem endless, enervated and overall s t r e t c h e d. He will provide the capacity to endure, the strength to grow and the love only the Holiest of Holies can yield. I believe this with my entire being.
