The High Calling of Motherhood Review + A Giveaway

**I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. As always, opinions expressed here are my own.**

Motherhood is nothing short of an honor to women around the world. To be bestowed a life for a brief period of time is a blessing from above - shaping little minds and hearts to do mighty things for His kingdom is self-gratifying.

This is exactly what the author is sharing, we must prepare the future generations to KNOW God and make Him known. To raise our children with a heart for the Lord so that they may never part.

These several passages from the book, "The High Calling of Motherhood" by Chimene Shipley Dupler truly had me convicted:

  • "You were chosen to be the mother to the very children you call your own, whether biological or through adoption. Our God is an intentional God."
  • "We are caught up in a culture of comparison and self-serving gratification, neglecting to understand the mission of motherhood."
  • "We must stop looking to motherhood to find our identity."
  • "Fear breeds insecurity. Insecurity breeds comparison. Comparison takes our eyes off Jesus."
  • "We must be more concerned about reaching our child's heart. The behaviors and actions of our children are simply overflow of the heart."
  • "Our homes are mission fields."

Chimene, also founder of Passion4Moms Ministries, does a phenomal job expressing the importance and significance of our roles as mothers. While society continues to devalue the calling of motherhood, we must remember who we are in constant battle with daily, the enemy

This book is centered around this simple yet paramount scripture verse: Colossians 1:16 says, "We exist to glorify God, and our purpose is to know God and make Him known."

THIS IS KEY to our calling in motherhood.

We must instill this way of living into our children; but it must begin with us as parents.

Chimene mentions this verse several times because this must be our staple in parenting, raising them to know God and for Him to BE KNOWN. From the day they're born to their last days in the household, discipleship begins within the walls of our homes.

As a new mother to littles, I struggled with this calling. I had lost my identity within motherhood instead of seeking Him, the perfect parent. I would have loved to have received this book years ago, but I am so grateful for God's timing and His grace.

The High Calling of Motherhood spoke volumes to me and has given me a new perspective of both valuing myself and my children, alongside my husband.

My lifeline and equipping is vertical, not horizontal.
